About

I was going to write a short bio in the About Me section but I figured by the time I wrote something down, it would have changed. And it would be boring. So instead, I’ve decided I’m going to keep a running list of the things I know to be true and share it with all of you. I feel like this will tell you so much more about me then where I was born and what I like to do in my spare time.

These gems are collective wisdom that I’ve acquired from a multitude of sources and experiences. They not only influence my writing, but the way I live my life.

These gems give me me my voice.

It’s in no particular order. I’ll be adding them as I acquire them, feel free to email suggestions/share you own.

What I Know For Sure:

1. When people stop believing in love, it changes them.

2. When the universe tells me it is in charge, I stand still and listen. And I think you should too.

3. If people aren’t talking about you, you may be boring.

4. Skepticism is one thing, reluctance is another…ignorance is another as well.

5. I am fully committed to being authentically and unapologetically me. Kate Winslet once said, “there are 2 things in life I’ve never been offered, one is cocaine, the other is a body double. I always play myself because I think it’s important not to cheat.” Although I’m not a famous actress, I wholeheartedly agree with her sentiment and think the quote is appropriately quirky.

6. I have always been a writer. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

7. I work every day at getting better at forgiveness. Someday, I would like it be as natural as breathing to me.

8. I tend to marvel at things others prefer not to.

9. Reality is a lot more interesting to me than fantasy

10. I overindulge in mental yoga.

11. I am increasingly fascinated with complicated chemistries.

12. Sometimes you have to choose between being happy and being right.

13. I read some really profound advice on the Dooce website. Heather said a friend once told her, “No matter what horrible thing you’re going through, when it’s all over it only takes three seconds to sum it up. Remember that.” It was immediately added into my archive of life lessons.

14. I know for sure that I’ve already met, loved and lost one of the most influential people I will have in my life.
15. My spirit can live with sadness, it feels organic. My spirit cannot, and will not, live with anger–it feels destructive.

16. Relationships should have a mild fever at all times.

17. “Either you take charge of change, or change will take charge of you”–Quote from Kemmons Wilson, founder of Holiday Inn

18. I believe there are certain emotions that are worth practicing because you don’t get a second chance with many people. Start today.

19. Pain always feels like it is going to last forever, it rarely does.

20. Fear is a very real thing. Deal with it daily.

21. Nobody wants a nervous pilot.

22. Your books guide you, your heart defines you.
